Why It Matters
For centuries, Black women have been the architects of change—quietly shaping industries, movements, communities, and culture. Their genius has often gone unrecognized, their stories untold.
The Museum of Black Women Innovators (MOBWI) is being built to change that.
Opening in December 2025 in Coastal Virginia, MOBWI will be the first museum in the nation solely dedicated to honoring the achievements and legacy of Black women innovators—past and present—across disciplines including science, medicine, education, the arts, business, and social justice.

The Power of One
Be the one who helps make history

The Power of One is our capital campaign to raise seed funding for Phase One of MOBWI’s development. This includes designing interactive exhibits, renovating and building out the museum space, launching educational programs, and creating community-rooted experiences.
This campaign is built on a bold belief:
That one person can change the course of history.
That one gift can create something that lives on for generations.
That you can be the one who helps build this.
Whether you give $100 or $1,000,000, your gift brings us closer to opening the doors of a museum the world has never seen—but desperately needs.
What Is The Power of One?
One choice. One moment. One gift.
Welcome to the founding campaign of the Museum of Black Women Innovators.
Ways to Give
Make a One-Time Gift
Your pledge goes directly toward the creation of Phase One of the museum. Every donor—no matter the level—will be recognized as a Founding Contributor and become a part of this living legacy.
You don’t need a million dollars to make an impact.
You just need to be the one who says yes.
